Philosophy of Care

Erica Roth approaches her work with warmth, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit. She values meeting each patient where they are while helping them build the skills and confidence to face the challenges that anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and trauma can create. She also has a particular interest in supporting people through life transitions, recognizing that major changes in career, relationships, family, and identity often bring their own layer of anxiety and uncertainty. Erica draws on gold-standard treatments while integrating mindfulness, self-compassion, and values-based approaches to promote both symptom relief and long-term resilience. She believes understanding the “why” behind symptoms is just as important as learning how to overcome them, and works to create a safe, supportive space where patients can explore, practice, and grow.

Special Interests

Erica enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety disorders, OCD, panic disorder, agoraphobia, specific phobias, and trauma-related concerns. She helps individuals break patterns of avoidance, strengthen distress tolerance, and reconnect with personally meaningful activities. Erica also specializes in career counseling and job search support, drawing on her decade of experience in recruiting and career coaching to help clients navigate career transitions, interview preparation, professional identity, and workplace stress. She incorporates her Yoga Teacher Certification to support mind-body awareness and self-regulation in treatment, and is committed to culturally responsive and trauma-informed care with experience supporting survivors of sexual violence and individuals from marginalized communities.

Outside the therapy setting, Erica enjoys exploring Chicago’s neighborhoods, practicing yoga, hiking, and spending time with her family and her dog, Marty.

Experience and Training

Erica completed her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Prior to entering the counseling field, she spent a decade working in recruiting at companies including Zoom, then transitioned into a career coaching role at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She now brings that experience directly into her clinical work with clients facing career and life transition challenges.

She is a member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). Erica also holds certifications in Yoga (200-hour Teacher Training) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and has completed 60 hours of training as a Medical Rape Crisis Advocate.
