DBT is a method for teaching you, or your child, how to accept and tolerate distress, whether it comes from anxiety, depression or other strong feelings.  You learn how to recognize when you are being overwhelmed with emotion, how to slow down and how to calm yourself down and prevent emotional dysregulation, impulsive meltdowns, self-harm or dysruption in relationships.
