We understand that many people suffer from anxiety disorders and that effective treatment can be hard to find. You are not alone; The Anxiety Treatment Center of Greater Chicago is here to help. Fortunately, anxiety disorders are highly treatable when addressed with the correct scientific solutions, and we can provide the solutions you need to help you conquer your fears.

Types of Treatment

Our focus on anxiety and stress-related disorders enables us to stay on top of the latest scientific research and incorporate the best new strategies into our treatment plans. We take great pride in our long history of being on the cutting edge of treatment. Our main therapies include the following:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy
  • Exposure and Response Prevention
  • Intensive Treatment

Individual treatment sessions are held in our Deerfield or Chicago offices. In addition to meeting you in our offices, our therapists can also conduct sessions in your home, office, or wherever you feel most anxious. We work in settings as varied as schools, elevators, malls, and airplanes, enabling you to gain confidence in the real-life situations that are part of your unique life context.

We are a longtime leader in delivering HIPAA-compliant telehealth counseling for Illinois residents via secure videoconferencing. This form of distance counseling offers a convenient alternative for patients who find it difficult to meet with or travel to a therapist and can flexibly accommodate your schedule.

For patients who move out of state temporarily (e.g. for college) or permanently, our therapists can provide telehealth services in states where they hold a valid professional license, or if they hold an e-passport license through PSYPACT and you are residing in a PSYPACT state. Some non-PSYPACT states may allow licensed psychologists to apply for permission to practice in their respective state.

Our practice is nationally recognized for treating patients with more complex issues. Having specialized treatment teams enables us to mobilize quickly, providing customized, intensive treatment. Our multi-modal approach works rapidly to restore good mental health, even helping to avoid hospitalization for the most severe cases. Through weekly team meetings, our staff has the opportunity to share complicated cases, ask questions, and provide oversight so that each patient is guaranteed the highest level of compassionate care.

We are also skilled at working with children of all ages, and provide parents with the resources and guidance they need to help their children succeed.

Our therapists teach you to modify negative thought patterns using the most advanced techniques in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, exposure-based therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness training, resulting in diminished symptoms within a short period of time. Our treatment works by systematically and carefully exposing you to fearful situations; this effective approach empowers you to overcome your fears, reducing the discomfort and symptoms you feel, and restoring your peace of mind.

We ‘employ’ several dogs who assist our patients in overcoming their fears. Our dogs are brought into sessions with patients to help them feel more relaxed and supported, particularly when the patient has phobias about animals and dogs. Our dog therapists can also be helpful in teaching socialization skills and working with patients with autism spectrum disorder. These wonderful animals love working with our staff and patients, and have helped many to overcome their fears.
