Rahan Ali, Ph.D.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Ali honed his engaging style of therapy through 20 years of experience. Patients benefit from his dynamic teaching skills as he guides them through treatment. His approach is active and results-oriented: collaborating with patients to target symptoms, identify areas of difficulty, and develop specific goals. He customizes a treatment plan utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy and other research-proven best practices for treating anxiety and related disorders. His style blends warmth, encouragement, and a sense of humor, coaching patients to address problems wherever they occur. Patients learn to face uncomfortable situations and develop the self-confidence to manage their symptoms and live successfully even when symptoms appear.
Dr. Ali is most interested in anxiety disorders, including social anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic. He is a passionate teacher, both in one-on-one therapeutic situations and in the community.
In his spare time he likes to read, listen to music and spend time with family. As a native Chicagoan, Dr. Ali loves the lake, Bulls basketball, and construction traffic (one of those isn’t true!). He also likes to play piano, especially when no one is listening!
