Philosophy of Care:
Clients of all ages find Dr. Siegel to be warm, empathetic, and approachable, as he focuses on understanding how you see the world. Treatment begins with an assessment aimed at learning about your concerns and how they are impacting your life. Using a collaborative approach, Dr. Siegel works with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that targets specific goals and aims to reduce debilitating symptoms. He uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to teach you new ways to respond to anxious and depressive thoughts and feelings. Drawing on a variety of interventions, treatment techniques and protocols, therapy with Dr. Siegel helps you to live a richer, less anxiety-driven life regardless of whatever thoughts try to get in the way.
Dr. Siegel works with all anxiety disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety, Hoarding, Health Anxiety, Specific Phobias, and others. Often, this includes helping clients manage mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder, which frequently appear in conjunction with other anxiety problems.
Dr. Siegel has a passion for helping clients with Tourette Syndrome and other tic disorders. He uses Comprehensive Behavioral Interventions for Tics (CBIT), Habit Reversal Therapy (HRT), and other techniques learned at the Tourette Syndrome Behavior Therapy Institute to help reduce the severity of tics. In addition to his clinical work, he enjoys spending time exploring the city, cooking and trying new foods, and pursuing issues related to social justice and the stigma of mental illness.
Experience and Training:
Dr. Siegel received his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford. He completed his doctoral internship at Counseling and Psychological Services of Clemson University in Clemson, SC where he worked with a culturally diverse population of college students presenting with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Dr. Siegel has extensive specialized training, including the prestigious OCD Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) through the International OCD Foundation and the Tourette Syndrome Behavior Therapy Institute (TS-BTI). He is a member of theAmerican Psychological Association (APA) the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and the Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA).
